    Common questions

    Booking an interpreter in Portland

How far in advance should I book an interpreter?

Book as far ahead as you can, particularly for medical, legal and other time-sensitive appointments. We can often take short-notice requests, but advance notice gives us the best chance of securing the most qualified interpreter for your setting. Rare and less commonly requested languages may need extra time to find an available qualified interpreter.

What is the minimum booking time?

Two hours is the standard minimum for on-site interpretation. Billing is based on the time reserved for the assignment, with travel time and mileage billed according to the assignment.

    What is your cancellation policy?

We ask for 48 hours' notice to cancel an appointment.

What hours can I schedule, and do you cover emergencies?

Scheduling is coordinated during regular business hours. After-hours, weekend and emergency requests can often be accommodated depending on interpreter availability. For anything urgent, call the office on 503-907-5599 rather than using this form.

Do you take same-day or rush requests?

Yes. We regularly accommodate same-day and short-notice requests when an appropriately qualified interpreter is available. Rush requests are handled case by case, and additional fees may apply depending on the timing, language, location and complexity of the assignment.

Can you provide a W-9 and a certificate of insurance?

Yes. We can provide a completed W-9 and a certificate of insurance on request, as part of your vendor onboarding or compliance requirements.

Do I need a contract before my first appointment?

Yes. We provide a customized contract for every client, including clients who need interpretation for a single appointment. Each contract is tailored to the specific services you need.

    Statement on Recent False Allegations

Language Connection LLC and founder Tolú Tahmassbi categorically deny recent false allegations of fraud by interpreter Ines Venturini. In reality, Ms. Venturini rejected our timely PayPal payment before proceeding to harass our client, White and Sheppard. We are now filing a lawsuit for defamation and have reported her to the Oregon Judicial Department. We remain committed to our standards of integrity and professionalism.
